sgf files

The files below, featuring instructional and commented club members' games, may be downloaded and replayed on your SGF viewer.

Don't have a viewer program or know what a viewer is? To view SGF files dynamically displayed move by move on a virtual go board and stones on your computer you need to load and run a viewer program. One such well known Windows program is "Many Faces of Go", which is a computer opponent as well as an SGF file editor/viewer. It's offered for sale by Yutopian Enterprises. Another excellent viewer, called SmartGo, is available from the very person who invented SGF.

SOME COMMENTED GAMES FROM THE 2005 LEAGUE KING INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT:

Mr. Yang Yi-Lun 7p comments some of the tournament games:

Those interested may email Mr. Yang about taking on-line lessons.

Bruce Wilcox 5d, comments some of the tournament games:

Mr. Wilcox is generously available from time to time to give a free teaching game to those Wings Go Club members who've studied his contact fight and sector fight materials. If that describes you, then a teaching game, delivered by the guru himself, could be an excellent way to see how much you've effectively absorbed and where you still have gaps. Do email the webmaster if you're interested in having him arrange it.

Breakfast, who is none other than Alexandre Dinerchtein (1p), comments some of Wings Go Club member vash130's (2d) games. (Vash130 is also known as schach, who sometimes substitutes for mitdahand as teacher and game reviewer during the regular weekly on-line club meetings.)

MORE YANG YI-LUN:

But before proceding with any of the SGFs appearing below this paragraph you'll need to set your SGF viewer to show the upcoming move as the character "a", since the commentators refer to the upcoming move as "a" in their remarks (which is different than the last displayed stone). Properly written full featured viewers usually have a "show next move on" switch, or something similar. Failure to set your viewer as described will cause the commentary to seem mysterious.
