Any club member who won a League event during 2003 qualifies for an invitation. Players may accept their invitations up to 24 hours prior to the tournament commencement. Invitation notices shall be sent by email. Players accept their invitation by logging onto the web site and filling out the brief response form.
The Wings Room on KGS.
Three rounds are scheduled. This accomodates up to eight participants. If less, some participants will receive a bye in the first round to normalize the field. If more, a fourth round will be necessary.
The tournament shall be organized as a handicapped knockout competition (a loss means you are eliminated from further play), with initial player pairings done randomly. Players may draw a bye in the first round if the field requires normalization, which means they automatically advance to the next round. The tournament director shall announce pairings slightly before the commencement of each round. The tournament director shall determine the handicap level for these games when pairings are announced, which may differ from the handicap that KGS might automatically assign.
After being assigned your opponent, set your timer to be 45 minutes main time, with 25 stones in 10 minutes Canadian style byo-yomi. In addition, set the game as a FREE game.
Unlike the League games themselves, which allow take-backs under amenable circumstances, no take-backs are allowed during this tournament. If you make a click-o mistake, you shall have to live with its consequences, so be careful. Even if your opponent recognizes the click-o, he isn't permitted to give you a take-back. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Participants are on their honor to ensure that they play without help from coaches, books or otherwise during their games. No discussion about the game during its course is permitted with your opponent. Polite and friendly behavior is expected at all times.
All rulings of the tournament director are final.
